Victorian chic; boo

I'm not typically a rose person-- I even went as far as to tell Jake never to buy me daisies or roses or any arrangement containing baby's breath, for that matter-- but this arrangement on Design*Sponge leaped off the screen at me (in a good way).  The combination of lacy dusty miller and vivid red roses is so striking; the bouquet with mauve roses is ghostly and muted.  Both arrangements could be in American Girl Samantha's room (again, in a good way) playing witness to tea parties and Valentine-making.

I can't take my eyes off them.  I'm used to roses being precious.  Here, they look... dangerous.  Poisonous.    Conclusion?  Dusty miller* is the cornerstone to a haunting, eerie, unforgettable arrangement.

*Not to be confused with Dusty Springfield.
